I thought I saw you in the corner of my room one night.
It was cold and raining outside and I was fast asleep.
Dreaming of dreams meant for heaven as rewards.
Within my slumber I heard a knock that disrupted all sweet thoughts and I withdrew from heaven’s hands.
That knock that disrupted all sweet thoughts was like a crash rushing through my head as it drained into my ears.
My eyes drew to the side of the floor as a strange feeling crept up my spine, and into my mind…
I felt as if something was off.
I stared for a few seconds more and took my eyes off of the floor to gaze at the black static of a wall that laid before me.
Shrouding in the corner was a blackened figure whose face just seemed to steal enough light for me to make out a widened set of eyes and a grin that I couldn’t quite understand.
The vibration in my chest sped up rapidly and my body felt weak.
And I thought to myself…
How ever would I fight this man off of me?
Does he know that I have caught sight of him?
Perhaps I should act as though I can’t see?
But then the floors started to creak and I noticed sudden movements of the figure as he treaded closer and closer to me.
I picked up my glass covered in lipstick and stained with dried wine from the nightstand that stood beside my bed and threw it at the stranger’s head, but he kept inching closer with his wide grin, unsettling me deep from within.
A face quite familiar became clearer and clearer and as he continued to come nearer.
I turned on the lights and all I could see is nothingness staring back at me.
The stained glass laid shattered near the foot of my bed and a text from a number unknown to me was delivered and failed to ease my startled head.
But then it was you and all I could do was block and erase your unsolicited messages once more.
